Survived My Second Week at Monsoon

Lunch Time at Mesa!

The days are passing by so quickly! It is hard to believe that I have been here for over 3 weeks now. However, it is easy to believe that I have gained 3lbs! There’s a first for everything, right? Tuesday morning was an adventure as a few staff members of Monsoon and my friend Joey’ drove to Asia-Pacific Theological Nazerene Seminary to record a podcast!

The Adventurer's Archive Crew-Episodes 5 and 6

I felt like I was about to perform my first hit single as I mic checked in the studio.  There is this mindset I have that God likes to be in church or around worship music, yet God is in recording studios too. Adventurer’s Archive exists to inform people about the Bible Translation work that is going on in Asia Pacific in a relevant way, mixed with music and interactive discussion. In some cultures, reading and writing is not an effective way to communicate God’s word, therefore, “storying” or “orality” must be utilized in order for comprehension. Though I do not like performing or speaking, I feel as if God has opened up many doors for me to do so and that is when I remember the truth that I am not my own and oh yes…this life isn’t about me.  If the Lord wants us to write, we will write, record, we will record, or dance like David dance..we will dance!

I ended that day at CCF with a Bible study. The D-group leader requested that I teach on Psalm 139. One thing I like about teaching is that you are always talking to yourself as well. Psalm 139:1 says, “O LORD, you have searched me and known me!” Every Wednesday from 11am-noon at the SIL and Monsoon office is Jesus time and guess what we meditated on this week..Psalm 139! At first we were given a sheet of paper that said..”He knows my..” and were directed to fill out the rest. I concluded that HE KNOWS EVERYTHING! The things I love, hate, what brings me joy, my dreams..my secrets, your secrets, and what we will both eat for dinner. Amazing, huh?! He is amazing and his love comes down raining.

At work I am given projects and since I work better with deadlines, I pretend there is a time crunch so I work more efficiently. I am currently working on Wycliffe Philippines and analyzing their website. Who knew you could encounter the Lord writing up a 4-page SWOT analysis?

Psalm 139:7- “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?”

Whether I am in church, school, at my desk, or eating all I can, the Lord is there. You know the saying “home is where the heart is,” so if our hearts are with the Lord, regardless of where we are in the world, we have a sense of home. Home is known for comfort and the presence of God this last week has been just that! Praise God :)
