As I was doing my devotional reading yesterday, I came across this song and was encouraged by it — especially verse two. I found a beautiful instrumental version of it on iTunes! It is by a person named Shinobu, for any music-lovers out there. Anyways, verse two of this hymn goes like this:

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

I am so grateful that I can take my struggles with sinful temptations to the Lord. Speaking of which, I also have an accountability partner, though we are an entire Pacific Ocean apart right now. I would encourage everyone to find an accountability partner. It is so sweet to be able to fellowship with a sister in Christ through such deep struggles!

  1. Robert says:

    Greetings from Wordwise Hymns. Thanks for posting a verse of Joseph Scriven’s wonderful hymn. Did you know there’s also a fourth verse–that’s hardly ever used? You can find it on my post today, included in my comments on the hymn. God bless.
